Reactivity and Chemoselectivity of Allenes in Rh(I)-Catalyzed Intermolecular (5 + 2) Cycloadditions with Vinylcyclopropanes: Allene-Mediated Rhodacycle Formation Can Poison Rh(I)-Catalyzed Cycloadditions

Allenes are important 2π building blocks in organic synthesis and engage as 2-carbon components in many metal-catalyzed reactions. Wender and co-workers discovered that methyl substituents on the terminal allene double bond counterintuitively change the reactivities of allenes in [Rh(CO)2Cl]2-catalyzed intermolecular (5 + 2) cycloadditions with vinylcyclopropanes (VCPs). More sterically encumbe...

Synthesis and Characterization of Carbon Nanotubes Catalyzed by TiO2 Supported Ni, Co and Ni-Co Nanoparticles via CCVD

Monometallic and bimetallic Ni and Co catalytic nanoparticles supported on Titanium dioxide (rutile phase) substrate were prepared by wet impregnation method. These nanoparicles were used as catalysts for synthesis of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) from acetylene decomposition at 700°C by the catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) technique. The nanomaterials (catalyst and CNTs) were...

CHEMOSELECTIVITY AND REGIOSELECTIVITY IN HYDROFORMYLATION The control of chemoselectivity is a fundamental concern in Rh-catalyzed hydroformylation

1 RHODIUM-CATALYZED STEREOSELECTIVE HYDROFORMYLATION Reported by Daniel Robbins October 16, 2008 INTRODUCTION Hydroformylation, the conversion of olefins into aldehydes through the addition of CO and H2, is an important industrial reaction that employs homogeneous catalysis by transition metals (Figure 1). Hydroformylation is a valuable reaction in organic chemistry because it produces aldehyde...

Conformational, steric and electronic effects on the site- and chemoselectivity of the metal-catalyzed reaction of N-bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl, N-(2-indolyl)methyl α-diazoamides.

The Rh(II)- and Cu(II)-catalyzed reactions of N-bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl, N-(2-indolyl)methyl α-diazoamides are investigated to delineate how conformational, steric and electronic factors influence the site- and chemoselectivity of the metallocarbenoid reaction. The N-bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl (N-BTMSM) group is found to be essential in promoting the metallocarbenoid reaction at the N-(2-indol...

Nano-CuFe2O4 as a magnetically separable and reusable catalyst for the synthesis of diaryl/aryl alkyl sulfides via cross-coupling process under ligand-free conditions.

An efficient protocol was developed for the CuFe(2)O(4) nanopowder-catalyzed aryl-sulfur bond formation between aryl halide and thiol/disulfide. A variety of aryl sulfides were synthesized in impressive yields with good chemoselectivity and functional group tolerance in the presence of a catalytic amount of CuFe(2)O(4), Cs(2)CO(3) as base, in nitrogen atmosphere, under ligand-free conditions, i...
